About Us

Supporting Iceland’s thriving cybersecurity community

Who are we

Welcome to BSides Reykjavik, the only community-driven cybersecurity conference in Reykjavik, where cutting-edge technology meets a spirit of adventure. We pride ourselves on being an exceptional platform for the brightest minds in the industry to delve into the uncharted, as well as charted, territories of cybersecurity while fostering an atmosphere of professional growth and camaraderie.

At BSides Reykjavik, we follow the standard BSides experience where we pull the speakers from the community to give you a curated list of presentations.

All our events are built on professionalism, as well as recognizing the importance of building meaningful connections and nurturing a vibrant community. After all, you can’t say you are community-driven and community-focused if you aren’t giving back and nurturing the community. Beyond the conference sessions, we foster networking opportunities where like-minded individuals can forge lasting relationships and engage in thought-provoking conversations that extend far beyond the conference walls.

Whether you are a seasoned industry expert, a budding professional, or simply an inquisitive soul seeking enlightenment, BSides Reykjavik is your place for networking and knowledge-sharing. We invite you to embark on an extraordinary journey, where technology, professional growth, and unforgettable experiences converge.

Who are BSides Security

BSides Security is a global organization who’s aim is to provide inexpensive cybersecurity conferences.

Their core values are inclusion and diversity and are focused on being community driven for the community by the community. This is accomplished by curating high quality presentations from the community.

The Call for Presentations (CFP) is open to everyone, and all are encouraged to submit a talk proposal. The selection criteria is focused on the quality of the content, not the fame of the speaker.

BSides was born in 2009 when a number of quality speakers were rejected from a mainstream conference, not due to lack of quality but rather lack of space and time.  Their mission is to provide people with options by removing common conference barriers and by providing more options for speakers, topics, and events.

One year later the first European event takes place, year after that India, Hong Kong and Australia hold their first BSides event, at which point there are 30 events world wide.

As of September 2023, there have been 890 BSides events around the world, hosted in 225 cities spanning 62 countries.
